Cool and showery northern Europe

Low pressure is located over northern Scandinavia and also southern Britain. A long frontal system extends south-west to north-east across central Europe, with cool conditions to the north, and warm or hot weather to the south and east. Hot and dry in southern Spain and Portugal, topping 30C around the Algarve and Andalucia, but cooler toward the north, with a few showers near the Biscay coast. Risk of thunderstorms for western Italy, but dry toward the Adriatic coast. Fine weather extends across the east and south-east of Europe.
Heavy bursts of rain for central and eastern France extending into the western Alps, and across central Germany. Showers follow from the west for northern France. Meanwhile, a zone of persistent showery rain is likely to drift into Belgium and the Netherlands, later Denmark, some thundery bursts. A bright day for much of Norway and Sweden, although it will be cold, windy and showery in the north of Scandinavia.

Warm and dry for Spain and Portugal, with plenty of sunshine in the south & west. Risk of a shower toward eastern Spain. Much of the Mediterranean sees fair and warm weather, although scattered thunderstorms affect Italy. Thundery for north-east Italy, Austria and the Balkan coast. Very warm across east and south-eastern Europe, 27C in Romania, Bulgaria and Greece .
Dry across France, temperatures 17 to 22C. A shallow area of low pressure influences central Europe, drifting slowly north-east, bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain to Germany, the Czech Republic and Denmark, some heavy bursts possible. Rain also extends into southern Sweden, and a risk of thunderstorms breaking out in Poland. Elsewhere across Scandinavia, pressure begins to build, bringing plenty of dry weather. The far north will be cool and showery.
