Thunderstorms central Spain, spreading north


Friday
A slack pressure pattern across Europe, brings a mix of heat and thunderstorms. Central and northern Spain is likely to see thunderstorms break out, whilst much of Portugal and the southern Costas will remain dry, highs 30 to 35C. Dry and hot across France and the western Mediterranean, reaching 35C in south-west France, locally hotter. Similar temperatures for Italy. Nearer 25 to 28C for northern France and Germany. Scattered thunderstorms for the Alps and southern Germany, whilst a zone of thundery rain will be more widespread for eastern Germany, the Czech Republic and western Poland. Dry and hot for the Balkans, Greece and areas toward the Black Sea. The Baltic region is also dry, with temperatures 20 to 22C. Some rain for south-west Norway and Denmark, but much of Scandinavia stays dry.


Saturday
Southern Spain and Portugal will be dry, sunny and hot. Northern Iberia sees a risk of thunderstorms, these spreading across the Pyrenees into south-west France. Hot across southern France at 33 to 38C, nearer 25 to 28C in the north. A few thundery showers for the Alps, whilst southern Europe stays hot and dry. Isolated showers for the Balkans and Romania.
Breezy but largely dry in Denmark and the Low Countries. A few showers for eastern Germany. A front brings rain to northern Poland, western Ukraine and southern Scandinavia. Some prolonged heavy falls possible for Norway. Northern Sweden and Finland stays dry with sunshine, highs 17 or 20C.
